Tumor studies

Bioluminescence offers live non-invasive imaging of tumors in vivo.

The analysis of the development of intra-organ tumors requires non-invasive detection methods. Bioluminescence represents one such option. Tumors can be inoculated in mice using luciferase-expressing tumor cell lines and tumor progression and metastatic spread or regression after treatment can be detected easily by in vivo bioluminescence imaging.

We are in the process of establishing a human lung carcinoma cell line that stably expresses luciferase, which we can use for the study of anti-tumor drugs. Once this cell line has been generated and tested we will be able to also offer custom generation of other luciferase expressing tumor cell lines for the analysis of drugs targeting only specific kinds of tumors.
